How to make a crochet beach bag

For 13” deep, by 9” in diameter you will need.

3 x 50 gr. balls any colour(s) 1 crochet hook size D or a size needed to obtain 1” gauge

  • Quick note, if using multiple colours always bring up new colour from under dropped color to prevent holes, and bring up new colour as last YO of old color. Carry color not in use loosely across top of last row and DC over strand with new color.

  • DC- double crochet
  • HDC- Half double crochet
  • LP/LPS-loops
  • RND-Round or rounds
  • SC- single crochet
  • SL ST- slip stitch
  • SP- space or spaces
  • ST- stitch(s)
  • TOG- together
  • TR- Treble crochet
  • YO- Yarn over

Begin at center bottom with your color choice, CH 6, join with SL ST to form a ring.

RND 1: (CH 3) for first DC, work 9 DC in ring, join with SL ST to top of starting (Ch -3) till 10 DC counted, including starting chain

RND2: (CH 3) for first DC, Dc in same ST as starting CH, 2 DC in each DC around, join in SL ST to top of starting (CH-3) till -20 DC counted, included starting CH

RND3&4 : (CH 3) for first DC, Dc in same ST, DC in next DC, 2 DC in next DC repeat around, join- 30 DC on RND 3; 45 Dc on RND 4

RND5: CH 3 for first DC, DC in each of the next 2 DC, 2 DC in next DC; repeat around join -60 DC

RND6: CH 3 for first DC, DC in same ST as starting CH; Dc in each of the next 3 DC, 2 Dc in the next; Repeat around, join -75 DC

RND 7: CH 3 for first DC, Dc in same ST as starting CH, Dc in next 4 DC, 2 DC in next DC: repeat around, Join-90

RND8: CH 3 for first DC, Dc in same St as starting CH, DC in next 5 DC, 2 Dc in next; Repeat around, join -105 DC

RND9: CH 3 for first DC, Dc in same ST as starting CH, DC around and inc 19 DC evenly spaced, join 124-DC

RND10: Ch 3 for first DC, DC in each DC around, join

RND 11: CH 3 for first DC, Dc in each DC around and inc 12 Dc evenly spaced, join -136 DC: Base of bag completed, you can continue in one color or begin adding in different colors for added decoration.

RND 12- 40: CH # for first DC. DC in each Dc around Join, Repeat for remainder rows

RND 41: CH 3 in first DC, DC next 2 DC, CH 2, skip next 2 DC, Repeat around

RND 42-45: CH 3 In first DC, Dc in each DC and CH, join and tie off.

For Handle CH 8-10 work DC back and forth till desired length, attach to top and base of bag. To make draw string Ch 50-60 depending how long you want the tie. Weave through spaces near top of bag till they meet in the front center, tie and your beach bag is ready to use.

Easy instructions…..Start with six , join to make round, double every DC in next row, double in every 2nd DC in next row and every 3rd DC in next, and double in every 4th DC in next row, then every fifth until you have reached 8-9 “ diameter. Continue Single DC in each DC until desired length, remember to add in some spaces for loops near top edge….Easy as pie…sort of..
