Circumcision why do we still think it's okay

Circumcision…the attractive penis

The most common procedure performed in America is circumcision, over 60 % of new born males go through this painful trauma. 1 million times a year, 3 thousand times a day and once every 26 seconds a baby boys pecker is chopped and mutilated….and the truth is most people don’t even know what a circumcision is. Basically it is removal of the foreskin, a piece of the body some would say has no purpose

A long time ago when this procedure began it was done for two reason one as a sacrifice to god and another was to help prevent disease, infection and odour. Back then showers and baths weren’t readily available as they are now. This was also considered a easy solution to get little boys to stop touching them selves down their…yeah okay. The movement against masturbation started in the late 1800’s and some of its founders are well known today, like Mr. Kellogg of Kellogg corn flake, and Mr. Graham from graham crackers. These two and others believed masturbation was a sin against god and took away from marital sanction. Mr. Kellogg and Mr. Graham both believed their products would help reduce the urges for masturbation. Does any of this make sense? I mean even a religious person has to see this is all nuts…Why would god give us something only to have us cut it off and give it back. And why on earth would anyone want their children to stop masturbating, allowing your child to explore themselves can help prevent early sexual activity and expose’r to STD’s.

Now has anyone actually seen a circumcision surgery performed, its pretty gruesome.  This procedure  is excruciating to watch, we all know doctors aren’t suppose to inflict pain  and yet every few seconds a well known and trusted doctor with your permission cuts a chunk of your babies penis off. When the world is so new and every sensation is ten times the amount then it is in later years, why do we feel this is the perfect time for this torcher? This procedure is no longer necessary and as most men and scientists will agree having the foreskin has many benefits, I mean after all they were born with it.

The foreskin not only makes the penis thicker it gives it more protection. The nerves in the foreskin are so great that most men with their foreskin intact can actually feel and be more sensitive during intercourse, and those without can be more prone to pain during intercourse. As for the women; when a man has his foreskin, intercourse for the woman can feel much better. As the roll of the foreskin is pulled back when erected it makes a natural rib much like we experience using ribbed condoms and toys. Experts would agree that a man in this day and age has a less likely of a chance of contracting certain STD’s thanks to natures condom. Now it only reduces the risk a small percent so please practice safe sex.

I want to head back to the religion aspect of this, because this is where I personally get confused. In some religious cultures in such countries as Africa and the Middle east a certain ceremony involving teen girls coming into womanhood consists of a procedure that most of us think is a in human act against young girls. But lets for a moment say that this removal of the female genitals is torturous and in humane, but…isn’t circumcision the same thing, just because the babies can’t remember doesn’t make it different does it?. So how can we have one that’s okay and one that not. The truth is neither is okay, no person no matter the age should have to suffer through having their genital cut, removed or in any other way harmed.  I mean think about it this is the gateway to human existence, these are the parts that help create life, they should remain as intact as they came.

I know a lot of you out their have never known any other penis other then the circumcised penis, you think it looks great and maybe you think it makes intercourse feel better, the truth is a circumcision is just a aesthetic. Most people think a penis should look a certain way and in reality it should look natural. Your penis shouldn’t be an accessory and you should allow your new born boys to have it done just because you think that’s the way it should look. Your son’s future wife will thank you if you just let him be the whole man is was born to be. What ever your reason for considering circumcision for your son, please think again, and remember you wouldn’t allow your daughter to go through the same procedure so why allow your son

I don't know about any other European countries but at least in the UK. Spain and France Circumcision is not a common procedure. Some doctors even think that it is a barbaric thing to do to newborns. It is weird that such type of mutilation has come a common procedure in America and South America.

Circumcision is a religious rite of the Jews, and all male Jews must by law be circumcised.

Genesis 17:10

This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee, Every man child among you shall be circumcised.

Circumcision does not apply to the non Jew.

Galatians 5:6

For in Jesus Christ, neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Hi, I respect your personal opinion about this, but when talking medicine we have to say the facts only...and the fact is this part is not true

@@The foreskin not only makes the penis thicker it gives it more protection. The nerves in the foreskin are so great that most men with their foreskin intact can actually feel and be more sensitive during intercourse, and those without can be more prone to pain during intercourse@@

I live in the middle east where 100% of Muslims have to be circumcised (like Jews) and if that was true this means that all of them experience less pleasure than uncircimcised men, which is wrong...and of course it doesn't cause pain

and....

"Experts would agree that a man in this day and age has a less likely of a chance of contracting certain STD’s thanks to natures condom."

This is the absolute opposite to the medical fact that : circumcision reduces the risk of infection with STDs including AIDS..because the epithelial cells in theforeskin are more liable to infections and removing it really reduces the risks....if done properly, of course

It's also a medical fact that newborn babies recover quickly...I don't remember the pain myself! and I dunno anyone who does, how could you remember pain that uou felt when you were 30 days old? (and 7 days in some cases)

Hi there

I think that perhaps it should be the choice of the male. They can decide to do it later in life if they think it would be beneficial. I had a client whose husband was circumcised at the age of 50. The doctor recommended it as a way to prevent her from getting repeated thrush. It worked. Plus he was very happy with the results - not only looks, but also being able to last longer during intercourse.

I think it's a matter of being informed and then having choice.

I am not circumcised and neither are my seven brothers, my father and his brothers and we have never have any problems down there. All one has to do is practiced good hygiene . My Grandfather is from Mexico where this practice is unheard of except on rare cases in which is medically indicated. I agree with the author, "Why would god give us something only to have us cut it off" OK it served a purposed but in not longer necessary just as animal sacrifices and other rituals, This is the 21 century, why keep mutilating children in the name of tradition. As far as the Medical aspect, it is as pulling all your teeth out to avoid cavities. It is just common sense. Too bad that sadly common sense it's not so common among most of these people.

I agree with that young children should not be circumcised without any significant reason. But what makes me a bit angry is everything negative they say about circumcision. As a grown man, it is a blessing both for me as a man and she I live with, as a woman that I do not have foreskin. Visit the link to read what it has meant to me and for many other men, that we have removed the foreskin in adulthood. That young children is a debate, I understand, but everything negative that's said about not having a foreskin is pure and true lies to get people away from it. We men, who had foreskin, but had it removed later can sign this as I say here. Read my page please? http://hubpages.com/hub/circumcision

@Mezo

"I live in the middle east where 100% of Muslims have to be circumcised (like Jews) and if that was true this means that all of them experience less pleasure than uncircimcised men, which is wrong...and of course it doesn't cause pain"

Curious statements.

How do you know if you're experiencing less pleasure? I presume you're a circumsized male who had this surgery at an early age. Have you had sex with an intact penis and been able to compare the experience now that you're sans a foreskin? Probably not. So there is nothing to back your statement. And the logical conclusion is that if you remove the foreskin and its nerves, you'll have less nerves to pick up pleasurable sensations. Just the opposite of your statements is most likely correct.

"And of course it doesn't cause pain"

Have you seen a video of a newborn baby being circumsized? Even with pain meds, they're clearly experiencing pain.

"It's also a medical fact that newborn babies recover quickly...I don't remember the pain myself! and I dunno anyone who does, how could you remember pain that uou felt when you were 30 days old? (and 7 days in some cases)"

I'm glad male babies are too young to remember the pain of circumcision later in life - but that is not a sufficient reason to make them endure the pain of circumcision.

My husband insisted that our son be circumcised. He couldn't give me a good reason why and I regret having it done, but my son, who is now a teenager, is glad as he "matches" his peers. My college boyfriend (Who was 15 years older than I was.)wasn't circumcised and it made no difference in our sex life.(We couldn't keep our hands off of each other!)

This is not a health issue but a human rights issue. Sorry I'm not religious nor am I superstitious. These silly belief systems are not a justification to alter a person's penis because "you" believe in this crap.

As a circumcised male, I can say this is not a decision one can make for another person. I say this "Only your son will live with results." or the lack of sensation as the case "will" be. I've spent 48 years regretting my parents decision. Worst is, that little to no thought was given as to my preference or me living with what I was left with. When I asked about it, the response was "we thought it was best." NO THOUGHT WAS GIVEN AS TO MY PREFERENCE. Parents seem to be more concerned with the issue of boy wonder being in pain during the procedure. What they don't realize, is when the boy learns what was done to them "without" HIS consent, their decision is carried throughout their son's life. I can say we don't all agree with our parent/doctors decision. FURTHER TO THAT POINT, WE CAN ALL ELLECT TO HAVE IT CUT OFF LATER AS OUR CHOICE.

Unlike the above, I didn't want to look my peers. BTW what peers are comparing their penises anyway.

Think, is this really a parent's choice to make. I can say being on the receiving end. NO.

gstarnyc, You are totally right. The last thing a guy is concerned about is another guys penis and that is EXACTLY why this topic has remained so underdiscussed in society and continues to happen every 26 seconds! When guys human rights are being so grossly violated however, it is time for big guys to come forth and stop the madness. Not stay under the radar whining. You will be the heros of a lot of little fellows whos futures lie in the balance if no one hears their screams like they did not yours. I don't know if the cutters can ever give you back what was wrongly taken from you, (where it works for you) but I have a feeling as more and more guys realize what has been taken from them, and understand they should not be QUIETLY embarrased and not meddle, but SHOUT how injured they were AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS WHERE PEOPLE CAN HEAR THEM NOW, the law that is overdue to change will or there will be enough uproar to wake up expectant and future mothers from their ignorant blissful sleep at the expense of their sons, and hopefully some good doctors who currently, and eroneously think circumcision is health care and don't understand it is severe infant abuse, and when guys don't yell, no one hears. They cut you as babies now its time to tell on them. "Words are Weapons Sharper Than Knives" is a quote from an amazing artist and very true. Cutting part of a babys penis off is clear abuse and not understanding it is beyond my comprehension. If the law don't care about babys moms have to and you who have had the misfortune to be cut have much greater power than many to expose it. the general public is ignorant and DON'T KNOW ANYTHING TILL NOISE IS MADE, and SILENCE is the cutters greatest weapon AND YOUR GREATEST ENEMY. What happened to you at birth is a shameful disgrace and I will never truly believe it could happen, but it obviously did. It had to be a strange breed of people with such robotic lack of care about an infants life and future indeed. I sure can't relate with them on any level, but I feel deeply concerned about people like you who endured this gross disregard and clear violation of your rights in this country. You can bet my big mouth will post a comment at every chance. None of you did infant routine circumcising to yourselves and none of you should be ashamed, although I can imagine how you must feel and I do hope you know I sypathize sincerely.

I think it is enjoyeable to have sex with a circumcised man because you feel it to the best. Women who are circumcised are less and very less sexually active. In fact, if you are married to them, they even don't want to make love, sex and things that makes a husband happy. They eat and be there.
