Can I really quit smoking? Can you?
49Quit smoking
Okay...here it goes this time I'm quitting for good? Yup I did it I made the ultimate new years resolution...I planned on quitting smoking. I dumped the ashtray, washed the curtains and planned to start fresh, clean smoke free. This year I plan on showing my kids I can do anything. I can quit!? I mean yeah. I CAN QUIT? So now your asking...so did I quit?
I'm trying...Yup I said t out loud, I'm a puss***...First day one puff...next day no problem. A little crusty...frustrated no big deal. I'm good I can do it..Day three, stuck in traffic then lost in an unknown city....screaming inside practically sobbing like a child...I broke down and bought a small pack...Inhaled without regret, coughed and hacked with great comfort...The guilt hit me later when I got home...I gave half the pack away and kept some just in case...Yeah just in case I find my self going crazy and ready to rip the head off any pleasant or none pleasant person who tends to even glance in my direction....I mean just in case right?
What is wrong with me I can quit?
So now that you know I'm a crazy person with serious tobacco addiction issues...I must confess I had two yesterday and one this morning....My quest although worthy is failing..But still I will keep trying because not only is this my resolution fr a new better me ...it's better for my health and better for my kids....but still it's hard, really hard.
So if your trying to quit to...your not alone...I'm not alone but when I'm craving one leave m the hell alone...LOLOL...
I just wanted to vent, something I rarely do....so please new quitters and old leave me a comment...I want to quit...I want to quit....
I WANT TO QUIT.............................I can do it..I hope! Can you..

I quit smoking in 2000 after many failed attempts. It was the hardest thing that I have ever had to do in my life. I was a complete addict. You NEVER saw a photo of me without a cig in my hand or mouth. How did I do it? Well I had set a date - my birthday - and I was steeling myself for "Q" day. However, 2 weeks beforehand, I was feeling strong and so I said, "OK, today is the day". And I stopped.
I stocked up with dozens of bottles of mineral water. Whenever I wanted to smoke (needed to do something with my hands and put something between my lips) I took an enormous swig of the bottled water. I was drinking about 5 litres a day. It worked for me.
It took 6 months before I stopped thinking about cigarettes.
Now, I am a smoker who does not smoke. The idea and the smell repulse me, BUT if I stay long enough in a smoke filled room, the old memories are reawakened and I get the desire to smoke again!
Sorry to say it, but the first 20 years are the hardest (:-)!
Seriousy though, if I can do it, you can do it. It does get easier as time passses. I never occurs to me to smoke now. I am free and no longer a slave to the dreaded weed. YOU CAN DO IT!
Good luck with your endeavours. I have never smoked but I can imagine that it will not be easy. As long as all the people around you are rooting for you, you are sure to achieve your goal.
Good luck
I quit last year. One day in spring, I sort of saw myself, accepting cigarettes from friends and smoking them without giving it a single thought and - what's more - without really enjoying it. I so realised that it was a habit, far more than that it was a pleasure, that I decided to quit two days later. In the two months that followed, I had a few weak moments, but after the last cigarette made me feel way too light in the head, I had enough.
And you know? Everytime when I see people needing to go outside to have their smoke, eveytime I smell someone who's smoked (and do they smell) I feel glad that I have relieved myself of that. I am my own man, I don't depend on a piece of paper with some dried tobacco inside. I am fresh, smell good and look good (smoking does affect the tone of your skin), I am free!
So keep that in mind and hang in there. Focus on the rewards and not on what you feel you're lacking...
Best wishes for 2010!
Take a deep breath indeed and enjoy how clean that breath is ;)
If I can do it, you can do it

Girl, I've quit 40 times. Still trying. All you can do without going overboard is to keep trying

I quit smoking eleven years ago - it is not an easy task - I had to try several times before I finally did it - I had the best luck using the nicotine patches. Just set your mind to it and you will succeed. I'm cheering for you!!!
